| For the month of February I will learn to drastically limit the money I spend on food. I probably spend about $400-$500 only on food in one month.
Did you know that
for only $30, a starving child can eat for one month?
So, I am on a mission to try to experience what even $30 of food feels like (I’m not going to starve for a month). From this experience I hope to gain understanding of the hunger felt by children all around the world and gain appreciation for how fortunate I am to be able to eat well each day. Other things to be learnt: money management and the cost of food (because I don’t have a good concept of its expense).
RULES:
- According to Alvin: I will have $60 (Christina says 80?) to spend only on food for the month of February. Any money unspent will be multiplied by ten and donated to World Vision by Alvin Lee.
- Food given by parents = $2 per plate
- Friends can buy me meals/cook for me
- Restaurants can donate meals in support of World Famine
- All money earned will be donated to World Vision – working to save children in 100 countries such as Kenya, Darfur and North Korea

Last year World Vision raised $11,767,378 for hungry children.
More than a billion people earn less than $1 a day
Every year, nearly 11 million children die before they reach their fifth birthday.
World agriculture produces 17 percent more calories per person today than it did 30 years ago, despite a 70 percent population increase. This is enough to provide everyone in the world with at least 2,720 kilocalories (kcal) per person per day.
I don't know what I have gotten myself into yet...but I imagine it is a great cause. Maybe the other TUFFers will join this mission for World Vision and the hungry children across the nation.
